Alternative Health Treatments: Quackery or Cure?
When it comes to the subject of Alternative Medicine, I've been on the receiving end quite a bit. I'll be the first to tell you that I consult with physicians first, however, I don't always agree with everything they tell me. In the case of my cancer, I had a radical orchiotomy (if you don't know what that is you don't want to!) that went extremely well. Afterwards my blood was monitored monthly and I had CT scans 4 times a year for 2 years. My alpha fetal protein levels returned to normal just after the surgery and never increased again. My Oncologist told me he wanted to remove all of the lymph nodes on the left side of my body from my kidneys to my groin. I questioned his motives on this, feeling that I needed those lymph nodes to help stave off toxins. His only justification was that that was the next step in the treatment. I declined, and I'm happy to say that I've not had any cancer problems since. In fact, I didn't get so much as a cold for almost 4 years afterward! I attribute my health both before and after the surgery to my diet, and to the supplements I take.
Some people may not agree with my approach to my health. In fact, most Doctor's would probably have something unkind to say about the way I disagree. Ultimately, I'm a pragmatist. If it works use it. If it doesn't, why waste the time and money?
One thing I want to stress about any type of Alternative Medical Treatment, whether it be herbal, aromatherapy, vitamins or otherwise. When you depart from traditional western medicine, you are walking into somewhat uncharted territory. You become an experiment subject. There are few authorities in the medical field or in the alternative medicine arena that agree on everything. What I hope for you is that you will take the time to do research on alternative medical treatments and draw your own conclusions. The only way to take an educated approach to this is to cross reference.
Ultimately Health is an art more than a science. Even the definition of health is not totally agreed upon. I personally scoure the net reading articles on health and alternative therapies. Two of the web sites I visit the most to compare and contrast are Dr. Mercola's Site and Dr. Gabe and Diana Merkin's Site. Sometimes they agree, sometimes not. That's why I read both! With all of that said, I'll reveal to you some of the works I've found interesting in the Alternative Medicine arena.
Would you like to try 5 exercises that are simple to do, yet are purported to rejuvenate your mental and physical energy?
I had actually heard of these exercises all the way back in the 80's. Oddly enough I tried them and they seemed to work for me. I maintain the practice to this day. Chet Day's version of The Five Tibetan Rites is the complete text of the first edition with the original drawings. It is a very nice version and one I feel you'd benefit from. Who knows, if you try them you may find yourself feeling and looking younger for a long time to come!
Sometimes the medicines we take and the bad diets we eat can have lasting negative effects!
Over use of antibiotics can decrease the beneficial bacteria in your colon. Bad eating habits can leave toxins in your system for a long time. Recent reports indicate mercury levels in fish to be on the rise. If you've felt sluggish, can't seem to lose weight or have an overall feeling of “dis-ease,” you might want to read more about detoxification techniques. Again, Chet Day goes over an abundance of information in his Detox Bible. Using detox techniques isn't the easiest thing in the world. You sometimes experience headaches and sore muscles. The gain from the pain though is that your body will start cleaning itself up with a little help from you. Chet does a marvelous job of giving you a lot of options to look at in this treasure, and he only recommends techniques he has used to good effect for himself.
An Awesome One Stop Shop for Alternative Health Products.
I lived in Virginia Beach for 30 years. The best place I've found for alternative health care products hands down is The Heritage Store. This is not an affiliate endorsement of any kind. I won't make a cent from a single purchase you make at The Heritage Store, but I must say, I've never been anything less than delighted with both their products and their service.
